I got to go to my “Jersey Family’s” house for the Super Bowl this year. It’s the family of my best friend Nikki, who was also my roommate all four years of college. It’s always refreshing to get out of the area, have some good down home Italian cookin, and beat up on her little brother. It’s the little things in life.
I don’t want to brag or anything, but I’m pretty much their good luck charm. I was there for the 2007 Giants win so superstition and tradition required me to be present this year. It worked!
The hardest part about making these was forming the footballs. You’d think it’d be simple, but they just kept coming out too oval-y. Piping on the frosting helped make them more recognizable.
Nikki and I were also piping them super fast, so don’t judge our squiggly laces. Wrapping the Styrofoam in some football scrapbook paper made them look extra adorable.
We made them blue inside for the Giants. Definitely why they won.
As much as I love making cake pops, I’m still trying to nail down a consistent “inside” consistency. Mine always come out really moist and people say it tastes more like icing and is too rich. Personally, I don’t believe in “too rich.” Any tips?
